Broken sunroof guides/clips
the metal clips/guides that jaguar no longer offers replacements for broke on my 95 xjr, the dealership told me they just seal the roofs shut when they break, i have access to a machine shop and could have the guys make me some replacements for the broken parts, would this be of interest for any other jag owners or does anyone know where i can get replacements?
with these clips, the sunroof will still slide back/forth, and tilt, etc.
however, when tilted, the upholstered panel hangs lower than it should, and when opened or closed, the smaller, rear upholstered panel will drag slightly. black plastic, there are two of them.
I don't know what else they could be. I would take a picture of them, but my battery is disconnected for my current head gasket swap issue. :/

you need to go to the dealer and talk to the "older" tech. I used to have 10-12 of those slide clips. but over the years have used them all or sold them. I always saved those from warranty and other repairs. the parts are the same from 95-03
they are no clips i suppose they are metal pieces, one for each side and they both are broken, literally snapped

The assembly comes complete with the plastic unit that drags the rear interior trim panel back and forth.
The plastic unit also locates the spring loaded arm that you are probably talking about. They pop out and people try to bend them to stay in the plastic unit. They are CAST arms and break when you try to bend them.
Next time bend the steel fulcrum pin that the arm pivots on and the arm will be located tighter and it will not break because you won't be bending it. I have done hundreds of these for this reason.

Just asking here seeing as your talking about the roof panel. Mine is silicond shut but can you please tell me if the slideing part not the metal bit but inside roof bit is it made up of two pieces or three?
I ask because when I push on it and shine a light roof and the liner there seem to be another piece right at the back..
Thanks
Bill

G’day Oliver,
I’ve never seen any sort of retaining clip in that location, the only place I’ve seen those clips is on the rearward edge, at each side, of the small piece of moveable trim (Drain channel) that moves rearwards as the sunroof opens.
Cheers,
Jeff.
