Check Engine Light
not on obdII, thats old school, doesnt work. You might get the light off after so many key cycles depending on code. But it will be stored and continue to come on from time to time. Go buy a obdII scanner, and clear it yourself the right way. Then you have for next time, theyre cheap $40+
Last Summer after sitting all Winter, (I rarely drive my X300 during the Winter, maybe 15 or 20 miles between Nov. and April) as at this time there is absolutely no rust in or on the car, but when I did start it in the Spring the check engine light came on.
After procrastinating taking the car in to the shop for about a month the light went off while I was driving the car and has never come back on in over a year.
As to this day I don't know what made it come on. If it does come on again I will make a bee line to the shop.

I had that happen a bit with mine. It was the code for an O2 sensor. I had it read, and a week later, it went off. About a month went by and it came back on. I replaced it, and after a bit of driving, the light went off.
