Check from the back seat. The mounting bolts will be coverd and the seat frame should be just beyond the track.
Mine does not move back as far as I would like, but that's true of all cars. I was able to put a spacer in my XK8 and move the seat 2", but that is not as simple with the XJ6.

I would have surmised that there were a few positions that the tracks could be bolted into depending on the client, but I haven't checked it out. Thought perhaps someone else might have encountered this before I set out to pull up the carpet, etc. My Jag is a vanden plas and for reference, the side of the seat does not go back past the pillar.
