I have been chasing a noise in my dash for over a year now. Today on the way to a car show in Santa Fe, with a bunch of older jags that could not do freeway speeds it gave me time to find it. Turns out in the middle of the dash up against the windshield it seems to be very loose. Other than pulling everything out is the a way to get there to see what it attaches to and see what is loose to make it rattle?
i had the same issue.
no idea how to fix it at all.
for now i have just got some microfibre cloths similar colour to the dash pad and folded them up and wedged them between windscreen and dashpad.
not ideal but no other idea.
one in middle and one toward either side.
the whole dash pad seems to rattle on that edge near the windscreen.
I was able to pull out the remote sensor and wedge under the dash to push it up. CHATGBT gives some ideas but I could not figure out out what it was talking about
Sorted this out years ago, the problem is the gap between the windscreen and dashtop. I found coarse bitumen roads, plenty in Australia aggravated the problem.
I have inserted several blocks of suitable rubber in the space, they have been there for years and are unobtrusive. Yes, I also used rag initially.

I used various diameters/lengths of rubber vacuum tubing wedged between the bottom edge of the dash and the windshield to solve my rattle. Maddening isn’t it??
