I just fixed the same problem 2 weeks ago. The one in your picture is the low side line. The entire valve unscrews from the high side line and you have to use a wrench to take it off. The little valve itself is not replaceable, and the system will have to be completely discharged to remove it. Luckily I bought a universal part off amazon. None of the local parts stores seemed to carry the part.

very interesting I kind of figured that you might have to screw off the old one but it looks factory and I didn't want to touch that seems how new lines from Jaguar are very expensive and they rarely ever come up on ebay it seemsI just don't know why in Gods name they would have put a little rubber ball there in the first place but then again every time I seem to do something on this car I go now why did they do that lol

it would be greatly appreciated if you could send me the link for where you purchased yours

I almost forgot, the part I used was Four Seasons 59946 High Side Service Port Adapter. The parts is a whopping $6 on amazon, and fits perfectly.

There are two types of servicing valves used, Schrader and the ball spring type. It's not a "Jaguar" thing and most leaky ball/spring leaks can be corrected with a simple "poke" on the ball with an awl to re-seat or clear any debris causing it to not seat. There are also products out the to remove Schrader style ports with out replacing discharging the gas.

ANY GOOD auto parts store will have those valves.

I buy them in boxes of 5 from my local auto store in the tiny town of Boyd TX. (pop 975?)

The high side ones are GM common parts as well as VW and the low side is the same as Ford or VW Jettas, Beetles, etc.

I had the same problem with my 1966 Jag XJ6 high pressure ball valve. Tried reseating the ball many times without success. OEM hose was too costly. Found a hose assembly with new valve that was a perfect fit.
