Default how do i disengage valet locking?

This may be a stupid question but i have activated the valet button in the centre console, for no other reason other than its there! Now i can only open the trunk with the black key, the dash release and trunk growler badge release buttons are both disabled. What to do now folks?

You need to unlock the car using the remote.

Default trunk locked

I have a '97 XJ6, and I can't get the trunk open. The inside button isn't working and the key won't work either. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum Valorie225,

Lock/Unlock the vehicle with the remote fob and this will cancel the Valet setting.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice on posting to the forum.

Thank you Graham. I don't have a remote. I guess the original owner lost it and I haven't had a chance to replace it, so I just have a key.

I have this same issue Valorie, and I have no clue what to do. I have a main, and valet key, but no fob, and I guess pressing the valet button inside your console isn't enough. I'd thought that it may be a fuse problem because mine happened after my car died, and once I restarted it I figured maybe I blew the fuse to open the trunk because that was the last time it opened before that restart. Suggestions anyone???

@Valorie & @Victamone::

Maybe you know a X300 owner who has a fob and is ready to lend it? If so, you can program his fob very easily for your car and afterwards he can reprogram it for his car.

If nothing else works: you'll find help in the jaguarforums literature pack:

I did exactly the same when I bought mine. I had no idea what a 'valet' button was, so I pressed it rather stupidly, it was pretty obvious when I thought about it.
I removed the rear license plate and dug around in the hole behind the license plate with a coat hanger and really long thin screwdriver guided by a flashlight, until I unlocked it. That re-sets the valet mode. I haven't touched it since LOL
