A . If it is the part with the plastic window it is the cam position sensor that has an O-ring in it as it is inserted into the block .
B . If it is the one cover above that device it is a cover to the cam tensioner adjustment

That helps a lot, I am not a Jag motor guy but have solved most of my issues.
My real concern is a new oil drop coming from the unit the cam position sensor is mounted too.
In the picture, look at the stamped number on the housing, then zoom in close.
It looks to me that it had been removed/repaired as you can see what looks like Permatex instead of a gasket.
I replaced the valve cover gasket in the spring and have had no leaks till now.
Thanks for the reply Lady P. any additional thoughts would be appreciated.

O.K. My seal is not squeezing out as yours where you have the letter stamp . I believe what is behind the stamp is the oil pump , but I do know what is behind that on the same shaft is the power steering pump .

Motorcarman ( Bob Gauff ) has listed some pdf's for the subject area in his response on another tread . On document 10 - 04 , illustration 2 looks like a recessed flange I painted in red and green is where a seal goes with the yellow unsealed mating face where you have the tube Permatex product oozing out .
