I've modified mine, so can't have a look at it and tell you, but if you have picture of it, would be handy!

Took a while to find a picture of the bottom of the filter housing:

If it's the stubby outlet arrowed in red, it's at the lowest point of the housing and is presumably there as a drain.....?

Strange that, mine had that one blocked off, from factory! I remember, because I was wondering why on earth would they put there in first place, if they blocked it off anyway...

My friends, that is the fitting for the air injection pump! Folks in the UK probably have it capped off as you do, Firecrow, I don't believe you need an air pump in the UK! The pump pulls air from the filter box and stuffs it down the exhaust manifolds, to burn off excess fuel and heat up the O2 sensors after a cold start. Definitely a USA spec emissions item.

I don't care for it myself! The ECU cycles it frequently even when the engine is warmed up, causing a strong current pull (it is electric) and a short glitch in the fueling, sometimes almost causing a stall at idle. I leave mine disconnected and can go many weeks before the ECU reminds me of it. Don't tell the EPA!

Thanks for the explanation.

Makes sense that it's pulling filtered air as a feed to 'something' (the air pump) that we don't have ........ yet!
