Default Tyre Pressure for Maximum Comfort

I'm new to this forum and to owning Jags, But I was wondering how many members/owners follow the sticker that is in the console for tyre pressures for maximum comfort? 26lbs for the front and 28lbs for the rear seems a little low for me. But I do have to admit, it is a very comfortable ride (in my '97 x300)! I'm also concerned about wear on these tires also. What does everyone think?

I find "comfort" in having the tires at a higher pressure where they'll be less likely to overheat and fail :-)

32/32 for me

Cheers
DD

My personal rule of thumb is the lower the profile the higher the pressure. helps prevent damage to the sidewall and catastrophic failure. Who needs a tire blowout on the highway at 75 mph?

Never seen that notice before.

If you are a rear seat type of chap then the comfort setting is what 'James' is likely to go for.

But if you are a steering wheel turner I'd go with 'normal' or maybe a tad higher.

When I first purchased my 95 x300, all four tiers had 28 psi in them. Again after I had it in at the shop once they came back at 29 psi.
Personally I like the feel and handling of my Jag with 34 front and rear.

I am running 45 profile tyres on my XJR, and despite what the sticker says, I was not convinced that 26/28 was sufficient. I have found 30 all round to be very comfortable, but am currently running 34 all round. Feels great to drive, but interestingly, when I went to 32 as an intermediate step, a few trim vibration noises manifested themselves on rougher road surfaces. What fun I had tracking them down!

My rule for all the cars I own / owned so far: Manufacturer's recommendation plus a little. Works wonders, but I always have stock tire and rims.
