XJ6, 4.0, 97’ Cooling hoses
Hi
I recently bought a X300 from 97’ I just love the car:-)
Reading about the car, I understand that I should take special care of cooling hoses. So I’m looking for a replacement kit, but cannot find any. Any idea where to look?
And when I get them, a manual for replacement would be nice too

I found a kit once, but unfortunately, can't remember which vendor nor part number nor find records of same. I do recall the kit was composed of Uro hoses which are not the best, as it were. Here' s a hot tip: If you really open the taps on it to leave a stop light, or from say, 30 mph to 70-80 in order to clear your path of a skills-challenged driver....and simultaneously, the red light in the lower corner of the right hand stack of warning lights on the instrument panel illuminates, pull over and shut the car down immediately! You have likely blown the "Bypass hose" more affectionately known round these parts as the "B*st*rd Hose." Those who have blown one, and didn't stop because "I didn't have far to go" consequently didn't get far and frequently found a warped head and/or melted piston(s) after cool-down. It's replacement, as well as that of the octopus-like lower radiator hose is detailed here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...enewal-101914/

Do a search and I'm sure you will find other useful how-to's on the subject. As to part numbers, availability, and pricing, your best bet is to download the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (JEPC) from a sticky here...well, not sure it is on the X300 section, but I'm certain it is over in the S-type X-200/X-202 side....something about Christmas or happy holiday or New Year's in the title. Anyway, that covers the X300 models and you can find the part numbers. Pay no attention to the pricing listed thereon. Take the part number and go to a search engine and you'll be presented with an array of choices. Sometimes Uro parts are all you can find, other than from the dealership. Sometimes, the dealership is potentially a better value despite a significantly higher price. Having said that, it is a good idea to check with the dealership as their price is competitive on several items. Sometimes they surprise you. I've had a couple of "Bypass" hoses from Uro give up inside of one-year of service! However, after you do the first replacement at the 15-20 year mark as detailed above, with the cleanup and extra effort required to break parts loose, etc. you'll find replacing the busted Uro bypass hose with another new hose is a mere 30 min or so task......er....unless you have a supercharged car...then it is time to pay for the extra punch you've been enjoying....

I agree with the face that OEM last 20 years and pattern a LOT less. For the important hoses get OEM, for less complicated then cheaper is ok.
Look in this post, near the end I posted a pdf of all the part numbers..
