About 5 or 6 inches? I'm pretty sure the L will mean long wheel base (LWB). The length is in the rear leg room. Might have higher spec options also.

Regrdless of wheel base the VDP has a much higher trim level vs. the XJ6.

As far as I know there is no difference in trim level regardless of wheel base. That is, an XJ6 and XJ6L are trimmed to the same or virtually same spec....with neither approaching VDP spec.

The Xj6L has VDP wheelbase, but Xj6 trim levels.

I think I may have caused some intercontinental confusion. I meant a LWB car may have more boxes ticked on the options list. Unless I'm mistaken, we British didn't have a VDP on x300. We did have the Sovereign though. It's just that all the LWBs I've seen (UK) had lots of the optional extras added.

Just a reminder, in the States no LWB was offered for '95 MY, even though VDP was, so they (the VDP's) are not ALL lwb.

From my perspective, the difference is 4" or 5" extra wheelbase which manifests itself as an "apparent" 10"-12" in the rear seat floor area. (well..that's how it looks!)

The LWB makes a vast improvement to rear passenger comfort, more than you'd expect looking at the measurements. I also think the LWB has a better ride quality (smoother). The best part is that the X300 body pulls off those few extra inches like a champ, looking no less 'sporty' than the standard version.

I believe the LWB model has a slightly higher ceiling.

I've also head that the LWB cars do have an extra inch in the rear headroom, but I think that is attributed to the way the headliner sits with the moon roof.

The VDP is really comfortable in the back. Best spot in the car imo
