Wondering what this part is called - 2001 XJR - its the plastic piece of trim in the engine compartment on the passenger side toward the firewall, which contains the tool tray. Not the actual tool tray itself, but the plastic piece in which it is inserted. Underneath it is a black rubber boot that covers the Positive battery terminal connection...


Any help in naming this part is appreciated...

Ahah! A picture, what a great idea. It' this thing... the plastic cover you can just see in the tep left of your pic avt007. As you can see mine broke

 

Bulkhead cover?

 

I don't know what it's called, but it should be very easy to find a replacement. Lots of cars are being parted out here.

 

The curved part is called the FALSE BULKHEAD (sometimes called secondary bulkhead).
RH False Bulkhead HNC2680AE.

The battery positive stud that is melted is VERY COMMON Terminal Post LNC1380AA.

You might just get a new stud/insulators and use some plastic or fiber washers to mount it in the melted hole.

I keep one in stock because they melt and cause starting problems.

I check both of MY XJ8s occasionally for tightness to prevent this from happening.

Passenger side bulkhead cover Part Number NNC3984BC - I purchased a new one in Oct 2012 for $54.50 from Jaguar of Greenville (phone# 877-906-2117)

Another discount Jaguar dealership is Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com - they show their current list price is $54.50 discounted down to $44.28 plus $14.95 shipping.

Here is used one on Ebay for $27.99 with free shipping (located in Miami Florida) shows different part number???, but appears to be the same part.
