2001 XJR Going Into Limp Home Mode
Hello; I am new to this forum and trying to learn my way to navigate around. Hope this is the right spot for tech help. Looking forward to learning from all of you.
I have a 2001 XJR with 98K. This past week driving 70 on the freeway it went into Engine Failure Mode with the warnings Trac Not Available and ASC Not Avaialble. The engine went into limp home mode and would only travel about 25 mph. Pulled over, stopped and turned it off for a couple minutes each time. It would start back up then go into same mode. Sat on the side of the freeway with engine off for 20 minutes, restarted and it worked OK driving another 60 miles homes. Since then it has intermittently done the same thing about every day on short trips around town. Any ideas on where to start with this?
code reader shows code P1122 and P1121
P1122 Throttle body (TP) sensor circuit intermittent low input
ECM detected an intermittent low voltage on the TP sensor signal
Probable cause
1- Failed TP Sensor
2- Intermittent open or short circuit condition on the signal wire
P1121 TP Sensor inconsistent with MAF sensor condition
Sensor signal output not consistent with engine load measurement
Probable Cause
1- Open or shorted electrical condition
2- Failed TPS

There is also an outfit in CA; they seem to have very good coverage of models.

Cheers,
Check the heck out of the wiring first. The Jag manuals place "replace the throttle body" dead last. Check the connector at the TB position sensor as it has a nasty habit of making big bucks for Jag dealers. IT NEEDS TO BE CLEAN.
Hi
Below is DTC Summary Sheet that has P1121 & P1122 on it, I extracted it from the JTIS CD. Here is the jpeg file:

There seems to be more details in this DTC summary sheet. Lists 5 different possible causes are listed for P1121.
Hope it helps
