2002 XJR with intermittent no crank, no start
I apologize in advance if this has been covered, but searched and couldn't find anything that applied.
I have a 200 XJR that randomly won't crank and start. When this happens, I put the key in and turn to crank and get a bunch of dash lights. After I do a hard reset by holding the positive and negative terminals together for a few minutes and then reconnecting them to the battery, the car starts and runs with no problem. I initially get a P1797 "CAN TCM/ECM Malfunction" after starting the car the first time, but that fault usually clears itself after about 3 or 4 startups and then the car is CEL free. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I recently had my throttle body rebuilt/repaired by ASI. I also found new throttle body connectors with pigtails (mine were cracking) to connect to the TPS and PPS from Wiring Specialists and installed them. Everything ran fine for about two weeks and then, I had my first no crank, no start issue. When experiencing the no crank. no start issue, everything (stereo, A/C, lights, etc) would turn on, but when turning the key, there would be a click and then nothing. This has happened to me three times in the past three weeks. Any advice is appreciated.
