Default 98 XJR supercharger snout removal

Is there any way to remove the supercharger snout without taking the entire SC off? I知 planning on sending it out to have it rebuilt and machined to fit the 10% pulley.

And what would be the best method to extract the old oil from it if I知 not taking it off?

The short answer is no. You must remove the whole blower to do any internal work. If it痴 currently making noise, remove the supercharger belt and you can still drive the car normally.

Ok it does sound like metal on metal when it starts to get hot so hoping new oil will stop that and the rebuild of the snout is just for good measure.
Thank you

THE COUPLER HAS FAILED!!!!!!!!!!!!

No oil change will repair the broken coupler.

That would be this piece correct? (Photo from YouTube video not mine)

Would it be as simple as replacing just that?

Sounds like it won't help your issue. But there's a plug in the side you can suck the oil out and replace it through. Not sure exactly where as I got the specialist to do amongst lots of other work a few years ago.

The timing of this thread is apt as I believe my coupler has started making noise. I loosened the supercharger belt and I find there is slack in the supercharger pulley if I rotate it by hand back and forth. Bad coupler, right? Blower out to replace, might as well do the valley hoses and knock sensors while I'm in there? Part load breather?

What else should be on my list? Seems like a big PM opportunity that can get real expensive. Might have to run with the supercharger belt off for awhile while I collect parts.

The coupler is a plastic piece with a spring. The spring sometimes breaks and the coupler can rattle.

Whatever you do, *do not* get any of those cheap solid couplers you see all over eBay, you will regret it like I did a long time ago. Get *only* the Eaton brand spring coupler.

I do not regret the solid coupler. Only bad thing about it is the blender noise especially with cold engine. Boost noise is great.
