If you didn't read the 'new member sticky' there is a 'time' aspect, and a minimum post count as well before privileges are activated.

Drop by the new member area, say hi to everyone, give us your story, drop 3-4 more posts onto your count, and all should be good.

I'll see you in the new member areas!

Not sure where you are with this but thought I would put my 2 cents in the jar. We had a situation on a xk8 and I directed him to the hood latch. I just found out that the xj is the same way. The hood latch in the car has 2 cables attached to it, one to the right and one to the left latchs. You may want to look and see if your hood latch is not broken resulting in only one cable being operated. Please let us know what you find to be the problem.

Send me your E-mail in a PM if you can. If not go to my page (link under my name) and send a message from my page.

If you meant the car OK!

I know that you must have so many posts in order to have the rest of the privileges. Keep posting until you get them. I will along with other answer. You can copy and paste my web information into your browser for now.

This happened on my car. Radiator hose came off on way to work. I fixed that in the garage at work, closed the hood and walked off to buy coolant. Came back with coolant at lunch and could not open the hood. The right hand side latch would not open. I ended up having the car towed to a Jaguar guy here in Houston. He had seen it before and he went in from the inside of the cabin - under the dash. Removed blower motor and various other things. More than I would try.

He recommended that I be VERY careful when closing hood in the future. He told me to lower it all the way down so it is resting in the latch and them press each latch down separately......Cost me a few hundred in labor and towing so I think I will take his advice.

I got the same message and I have been a member for almost two weeks now with over 12 posts. I don't get why it takes so long to gain privileges. You would figure after spending the time to put up 10 posts that you would be able get the help you are looking for on this site. Keep your privileges jaguar forum. I'm done with this site.

FinAdvisor,

Sorry that you experienced a delay in your privileges. These privileges are done manually by our administrator and it could be that he has not noticed, an oversight on our part. I will let him know.

Sorry you don't understand the reasoning behind the limitations.

However, today is the 26/11/2010, according to your details you joined the forum on 21/11/2010 and made the above complaint on the 25/11/2010.

Don't know where you get 'two weeks' from.

Anyhow, not to worry, if you don't wish to participate in the forum, that is your choice.
