Default Accessories & options

Some of you may know that I've been refurbishing (not quite a full restoration) my 1998 XJR. I have found complete and correct owners manuals and folios, thanks to the forum. I'm keeping my eyes open for accessories that were available back in the day for my car.

For example: I bought a NOS under-hood tool kit, and I recently bought an umbrella and mounting kit to store it in the trunk, all original Jaguar parts. I enjoy hunting and buying hard to find OEM parts and accessories. I will likely never use the tool kit or the umbrella, but I had to have them! Don't laugh!

Anyway, what options and accessories might I be missing? I am interested in any and all suggestions. My friends mostly just roll their eyes, but they just don't get it!

Rear heated seats
Factory integrated phone (the network type that it uses doesn't exist anymore...)
Rear window blinds
Fancy VDP/super v8 seats
Dimming/power folding side mirrors
VDP wood inserts with the pinstripe thing
Picnic tables?
I'm sure there's something else I'm missing

I have the glovebox flashlight too...I forgot about that.
Heated rear seats and folding mirrors might make it onto my list next.

Lve your "obsession".

- Headlight power washers.
- Heated front screen (that will be a tough one).

What's the flashlight, I thought I knew about all of the x308 after 3 years ownership, but this is new .

Me Too!

By my own admission I'm always on the lookout for original accessories for the car, there was quite a long list available. Some of the things I know off the top of my head were:

12V Cool Box that sat on the rear seat
Security Safe mounted in the boot
Hooks in the boot for hanging shopping bags off
Eyelets and a net for securing luggage in place
Warning Light that lit and flashed in a variety of ways to warn motorists in the event of a breakdown.
Umbrella Straps
Jaguar Branded Spare Bulb Kit
Jaguar Branded Petrol Can
Jaguar Branded Fire Extinguisher
Jaguar Branded Roof Racks
Jaguar Branded Roof Boxes in various sizes
Jaguar Branded Ski Holders
Jaguar Branded Cycle Racks both Roof and boot mounted
Jaguar Child Seats
Jaguar First Aid Kit
Jaguar Branded Steering Lock

There are probably many more, I've got the original Jaguar accessories brochure somewhere which is why I remember so much. LOL

I've got quite a few accessories and options fitted to my car, and some that aren't. One thing I've got that isn't fitted is an original Jaguar Towbar with factory electrics. I've got absolutely no intention of fitting it to my current XJ, but I can't bear to sell it either as it's so rare!!!

Eric: Here's a screenshot of the torch instructions to give you an idea of what it is like. Fits into the little slot in the very top of the glovebox, you'll know where once you look. I just happened to have the PDF for that one.

- Oh yeah, a very obvious and nice one, the warning triangle fitted on the trunk lid.

The replies are very helpful. Great list of PDF files, omgimali. It will keep me busy for months, deciding which ones I want.

I do not have the glovebox flashlight after all. I have a Jaguar branded flashlight that goes in the glovebox, but not the rechargeable torch. I didn't know it existed! I ordered the rechargeable torch just now. Travel bag? Probably going to have to have one of those too!

The toolkits go for all sorts of different prices depending on who's selling them. If it's Joe public around £35 but if it's a "breakers yard" then they'll price a lot higher. Usually around £100 and usually because it says Jaguar on it.

Just remembered that there were Jaguar branded carpet trunk mats too. I found a set from a dealership a while back.

I have wondered what was supposed to go in that compartment ever since I got my '99 XJ8! Does the lid go back on over the tool kit once it is installed?
