Default Alarm going off when I unlock the car

Hi everyone,
I have a x308 - 1998 / 3.2.
My key fobs don’t work and will try to fix those…
for now I use the manual entry and locking system…
only … when I unlock the car ,then open a door, it beeps for a few seconds and then the horns sound blasting … they stop only when I insert the key to the ignition and turn it to position 2

heres the video I filmed… can any kind soul give me a hand in solving this? Thanks !

That's what it's meant to do.

Mine doesn't do that. Try a hard battery reset.

Mine doesn't do that either...

I notice you're using the valet key but don't think that should make a difference.

It also seems that you're turning the key really quickly to the unlock position and then really quickly to the lock position and then again to the unlock position. Does it not unlock if you simply turn the key to the unlock position and hold it there long enough for the door to unlock? I wonder if the sequence your using is somehow setting the alarm in addition to unlocking the door in which case you have two things taking place at the same time and each of them happening properly but with one of them - arming the alarm - being unwanted?

European cars do this and US cars don’t is the simple answer. I believe it’s got something to do with different security systems between USA and ROW cars.

Every X308 I’ve had does this if you unlock with the key, the beeping is a countdown to give you time to get the key into the ignition.

Fun fact about key; Any X308 key will lock any X308 car but won’t unlock it. No idea why it’s designed like this but the Tibbe key design was widely used by Ford. As a child in the mid 90s I was at a Ford dealer with my parents near the end of the day and observed a salesman locking all the cars on the forecourt with a single key. When I asked him I’d it was a special key he demonstrated that it was just a key for a regular car.

I still have keys hanging around from my first and second XJ8s which were scrapped and they do indeed lock my current car!

Just in that video I did like that..
I also usually close the car normally... go out for hours.. then go back , unluck it once and it goes the same :/

At the very start of this video from Jaguar to new X308 customers they actually mention and demonstrate how the key unlocks the car but doesn’t disarm the alarm.
