I think I’ve read they are. Why I ask Is going to part out one. eBay adds either say fits 1998-2003 XJR or 1998-2003 XJ8 and VDP. Might be salvage yards just naming the car they came from.
Also listings for those years of 3.06 and 3.27 ratios.

The 3.27:1 ratio is supposed to fit the 3.2 liter engine sedans.

Were those ever sold in the US?

I have never seen a 3.2 liter engine. I worked on Jaguars in Texas USA but I don't think any were imported to North America.

I did install a 3.27:1 diff into an XKR from a UK 3.2 liter X308 that a customer bought and had shipped to me.(just the diff)

I had to cut the pinion shaft JURID extension and swap the prop shaft drive flange.
The customer also had the TCM reprogrammed to the new ratio.

It would make sense that they would all be the same.

Bob, where would one get the Mercedes transmission TCM reflashed at? I know you said the customer had it done but, I wasn’t sure if you knew or not.

it costs like 900 billion dollars to retune the old egs51 nobody wants to touch them. i know one of the popular tuners on here cracked it recently so look out for that in the near future

@chirpy made a little bypass module so no need anyway

The work I did on the car was probably more than 5 years ago and I don't know where it got reprogrammed.

The car had a larger lower pulley for the SuperCharger, larger intercooler radiator and pump as well as the changed diff ratio and it accelerated 'briskly'.(wow)

I think a standard XJR is brisk enough for most, and insanely reliable if taken car of, way more so than the NA cars, ZF!
For those that need a 3:27, there's plenty this side of the pond if you want to try, NA is a matching TCM, S/C is a reflash - NAG1/722.6 etc...
