Smile Brembo brakes replacement parts

Hi all,
I've been hunting around for parts to do a brake job on my 03 XJR-R (X308 US model). So I have the Brembo cross drilled rotors and fixed calipers. Just kind of looking for advice and recommendations on what works and what doesn't.

Thinking of going to EBC Redstuff all the way around with Eurospare rotors.

My question is this. Does anyone have experience with this combination? How do the Eurospare rotors (and EBC Redstuff pads) perform compared to the nearly 4x more expensive OEM parts?

I generally believe you get what you pay for... BUT... I'm having trouble with that concept given the extreme differences in price in this case.

What about the green or yellow stuff? Any reason I should look at them more closely? I don't drive like a madman [normally ] but it is nice to be able to.

Any and all stories and experiences are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Brembo brakes work very well and look good on the car, but when it comes to parts, the prices will make your eyes water ! I would say if you can buy compatible rotors rather than Brembo originals, you won't notice much difference, pads the same, but they need to be described as Brembo-compatible on the sales description.

EBC Redstuff going on later today, as long as the rotors are ok. I'll let you know.

Thanks.

I have Brembo and used the EBC Red and they seem the same as OEM for a lot less money. I have the OEM Rotors on the front as I couldn't find after market fronts. I used aftermarket rears Rotors.

Good luck

The RedStuff pads went in with very little problem. I did have to scuff some of the lovely red paint off the edges to get them to fit into the calipers. Not really a big deal but I don't think it should be necessary. Anyway... While I had my head in the fenderwell, I discovered that the differential was leaking from the front. My local mechanic says that he can't get his hands on the parts or the Shell Spirax Super TS 90 differential lube. So I guess I'm back to the dealer.

The new brakes aren't bedded in yet. Didn't have any bad noises but stopping distance is long and they are a little grabby at very low speeds. I expect that this will improve as the pads get aquainted with the rotors.

Teddy, I did manage to find a source for Eurospare rotors for the front. About $230.00 for a pair without the shipping. I was lucky and didn't need rotors this time around.

I'll keep you posted.

The Eurospare rotors are a quality product. Don't be afraid for them.

Thanks, Ken. At $115+ a rotor they should be. But I just didn't want to get "cheap" rotors and wind up with a mess on my hands. There seem to be many different companys to chose from for the XJ8/XJR rotors but the Brembos are kind of an orphan market.
