Default Cruise control/ vacuum leak?

I have a 1998 XJ8 VP and prior to having engine replaced, the cruise control was working. I actually fixed it before when I found a broken, unconnected hose going to the cruise control module. Now there sounds like a vacuum leak coming from the module itself... I can hear it clearly, and it SOUNDS LIKE the module itself. My question is, can the module actually have a vacuum leak, or is it something else in that general area I am not seeing, because all the little hoses look like they are good.
I realize this has been written about ad nauseam, but I had to ask.

I have never opened one, but assume there is either a diaphragm or piston and there certainly could be a leak.

Are you talking about a vacuum leak from this canister?

Or a leak from these valves? Or the vacuum reservoir under the air cleaner?

The last post you made about the CC, were you talking about these yellow caps on top of the valves that are loose? If so, those loose fitting caps are there to prevent dust/dirt from entering the inside of those valves. Those valves are there to bleed off and hold vacuum that’s being applied to the vacuum canister on the TB.

Sounds like from the solenoid cylinders. The little hoses all “look” good to me, no cracks that I ca
n see.
