Remember that this only works while you are still in the car, once you open a door, the feature is void.

That is interesting..........sort of weird, but interesting.

Ok, I discovered something pretty novel. The windshield wiper washer reservoir filler neck telescopes up to facilitate filling.

And, they're even listed as 3 separate parts! Learn something every day!

You can’t lock an 8-cut car with a 6-cut or vice verse.

You can however lock and unlock any of these cars with a flathead screwdriver and a hammer.

When you fill the WW reservoir, don't fill higher than about an inch or 2 below where the 2 telescoping sections join together. Don't ask me how I know

LOL, yes, I discovered that too when I checked out Jeff's discovery, I lifted the telescoping section, and then replaced it too quickly and got a shower!!

Where would I locate one of these? I'm not finding it at SNG Barratt. In fact, most of what I would like from them is discontinued.

The window washer bottle?
SNG Barratt has them available for $131.75 (the version with the headlamp washing feature is "discontinued")

Did you know you can choose to have the leaper on the hood (bonnet) rigid vs moveable?

Tapered machine screws (x2) is all you need to make the leaper firmly mounted to the pedestal.

The threads and tapered holes are already in place.

The only downside to this rigid mount is that if someone did try to steal the leaper, they may very well cause a good amount of hood damage before giving up.

All the above really useful and generally unavailable (or confusing) in the manual. Can't wait for more tidbits.
Now, someone tell me how to print screen in here, lol.

My 2nd sedan had a solid-mounted leaper and, yes, someone successfully yanked in off in a theater parking lot. Much careful hammer and dolly work mounted a replacement. As an aside, if you have an older Jag with a Growler badge, instead of a leaper, and think about a conversion, it's remarkably easy, The Growler is attached with 2 bolts, as is the leaper. Unbelievably, the hood is NOT dimpled recessed for the badge. So, removing the badge reveals a flat surface with 2 small holes. Also unbelievably, the necessary new hole to be drilled position is within the diameter of the badge. It's as if Jag thought this might be a popular conversion. The end result is a hood with a leaper that looks like it was suppose to be there, AND if you want the Growler back no one will be the wiser!

Kind sir: I am putting a gold star on your chart for all of this great "did you know" information. I'm only half way through the list and I'm learning a boatload. Some things, like the mirror for reversing are sort of the pre-programming era for the X350. My dear departed '06 VDP had that mirror auto reverse thing built in. I think I'm going to try to print out a "cut-and-paste" of this wealth of knowledge and spend some time in my car making changes.

I don't know if you cover it, but I have a "nav" button on my head unit but as best I can tell it was sort of a generic unit as I do not see any kind of nav box in the trunk, just the CD changer.

Again, thanks for this great compilation of good-to-know X308 tricks.

Default Did you know that your X308...

If anyone cares, I have cut-and-paste all the important text in this thread into a single Word document which I have attached. I left out the photos but if anyone really cares I can go back and insert them. I also left out a few items on the accessories (flashlight, tool kit, umbrella) as they were not critical for understanding the unwritten secret decoder ring stuff about the vehicle. I printed out all 8 pages to study and tuck into one of the rear setback storage places to refresh what's left of my memory from time to time.

Thanks again to Carnival Kid (beautiful car, makes me miss my '06 Radiance Pearl VDP) for all the work passing on this wisdom.

Eliot

Thanks. I am going to repost it in a day or two because I discovered I duplicated some of your sections and have some things that are related too far separated. I need to do a good editing job. You did the X308 world a huge service by making all these observations. I used the window trick for a hot car today!
