Default disable alarm horn on 1999 x308

Hello, first of all excuse my bad english. I wish I could disable the alarm horn on my 1999 x308 (driver seat on the left - Italy). I removed the 10 A fuse in position 9 from the engine fuse-box, but the horn still works. Is there a way to disconnect the alarm horn cable? Where is it? Many thanks for your advice. Dario.

There are 2 places for the alarm sounding device. The early X308 sedans have it on the left side of the radiator near the ABS module.
Later sedans have it under the left headlamp assy near the coolant atmospheric catchment tank. (accessed from under the car)

On my 1999 car, the alarm siren was, if I remember well, more like the 2nd location described by "motorcarman". In any case, I managed to disconnect and take it our having the wheel arch protector removed and also working from under the car.

My siren went bad and was causing huge battery drain. The good thing is that, without the siren, the alarm still sounds but only using the car's horn (much less annoying).

Hello, many thanks for both reply and sorry for my delay in answering.
I have one more question. Since I am not so good in mechanics and in my town there's not a Jaguar workshop, I was wondering if there is a way to silence the alarm removing the fuses. In the Engine Compartment Fuse Box the fuses n. 3 and n. 9 are involved in the "security sounder" circuit. Could the removal of these fuses be efficient to silence the alarm sirene?
Many thanks in advance.
Dario

I don't think you can disable the alarm just by removing a couple of fuses. The diagram of the "Active Alarm Sounder" is on certain "Fig. 13.3" which is not included in the official Jaguar Electrical Guide (for security reasons, I guess). The only related information that can be seen on the wiring diagrams are references to that Figure 13.3, shown on the pages that show all fuses. Lines from 9 different fuses go the the said Figure. Furthermore, most of the fuses that supply power to "Fig. 13.3", also supply power to other things. There are also two lines from the ignition key going to this Figure. If one pulls all 9 fuses out, many things will not work and the engine will not start.

So, you'll have to dig-in and unplug the siren (should be a 6-pin connector). It is not that difficult - jack-up the front left side and look from under. Once you locate the large black box (see pics) just pull the 6-pin connector (you have to press a locking tab at the side of the connector to release it).

Hi All - bumping this thread as my 1999 XJ8 alarm has been going off at random times when parked in my driveway/on the street in the city. I am looking to totally disable the alarm system. Would I achieve this by unplugging the passive alarm plug? I have located the plug under the front left side of the car.. I'm not sure how to go about then testing the alarm to see if it doesn't go off. Please let me know your thoughts.

Roll the window down, lock the door and then reach in to open the door through the window?

The alarm should be activated when the door is opened.

. . . and the track the alarm, find it, cut the wires (or splice, I forget which way these work).
