Default Engine fail safe mode-asc trac not available

I tried searching but I can't seem to find the specific problem with my car. I was driving and suddenly the car went to safe mode with messages - engine fail safe mode and ask trac not available . I just trudge slowly home. Can someone please let me know where to start diagnosing the problem. Thanks in advance.

Codes, that's a good place to start, do you have any? If you look them up, be sure to put Jaguar in front of the P designation. In a case like this they will most likely be Jaguar specific.

Firstly, check you codes.

Second, start researching ASI throttle body rebuilds

Thanks for all your contribution, I drove the car 2 hours later and the car drove fine. No malfunction at all. But afraid it might come back so I'll try to clean the wheel speed sensors and go on from there.

Reading your codes would be more productive. Cleaning your wheel speed sensors certainly won't hurt but probably won't solve the core issue.

I've had this come up intermittently with my car too. Usually goes away by turning it off and restarting. If that doesn't work, for some reason starting it in neutral seems to make it go away.
The other failsafe warning i get is trans temp to high, this when starting a cold car for the first time that day. Ghosts in the machine.

A failing throttle body can be tricky to diagnose though. I know when mine was on the way out there were no codes, and it wasn't until we had a scanner on it when it failed that we picked up the right code.

Pull.........the ..........OBD codes!

And let us know what you get, then we can help you zero in on the problem.

Keep guessing and you will be limping home again soon, I guarantee it.

Hi, I know it's been awhile but now that I have the time to work on my car. Since the last time, I have 2 incidents of warnings on ASC and No Trac. But they were just warnings and after I cleared the code and parked in my garage. The warnings are gone. Now I want to tackle the abs module. Quick question, all the instruction does not say to remove the battery when removing the abs module. Do I have to remove the battery? I am concerned about the radio code which I do not have. Thanks Jag forum.

You just need to disconnect the negative battery cable. North american cars usually do not require a radio code. If you do, a dealer can supply it.

It is a good idea to disconnect the battery at the negative terminal whenever you work on the car. You don't want to accidently fry a module that could be costly to replace.

The only thing I do on my Jag with the battery connected is change the oil.
