Made a start on the combined transmission change and strip ready to repair the scuttle:
As you can see below, I appear to have a 5th lambda sensor that i can't identify in the EPC. It's a 4-wire although they were cut before i got there. Anyone know what/why?
Also, despite my car not having headlamp washers, is this the pump for them??? If not, what is it?
Damn, someone likes to hack of important items for reference.
For the O2's, review this... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cement-195018/
I am unaware of any 308 coming with a headlamp washer. Right off, I have no clue what that rusted thing is???
ALL the Canadian imports from the auctions in the North border states I have seen have heated windscreens and headlamp washers.
That device does NOT look like a Jaguar Headlamp Washer Pump.
I have never seen a Heated O2 sensor added like the one you have.
Sorry, couldn't see anything there referencing a 5th O2 sensor?

Where Country are you located in?
I'm in the UK, but the extra O2 sensor doesn't show up in any of the EPC's or manuals i have and i struggle to see the point of a 3rd one on just one bank?
This car does have a heated screen (for now), i didn't think it was a washer pump, it looks nothing like the one on my old X300 but it does (did) have a steel/cupro pipe going in and out (though they have long since been cut off).
I was hoping the wiring colors would help you determine the O2 type.
I'm also wandering if those CATS had multiple automobile uses and there was supposed to be a plug in the one not used. In this case they used an O2 sensor to plug it.
Also curious if it was used for a turbo install and someone added the bung for it?

It's indeed possible it should just have a bung in it. I'm going to check the p/n on the cat tomorrow to see if it's the original for this car (certainly seems right, but worth a check).
I did wonder if maybe the upstream sensor is mounted up there on the XJR/XKR and the Cat has been swapped in the past?
JayW...do you have real cold weather where you are? I now suspect that rusted device a flow heating element to prevent radiator/block freeze up because of your pipe description.

No, cold-weather packs are seldom ever needed in the UK.
After having a better look at the RH cat i can see the extra O2 sensor is a retrofit one, so i'm wondering if that together with the device below that i found behind the front bumper (which looks like a solenoid of sorts), perhaps it's all remnants of an LPG install? There's obviously no tank, filler or other obvious signs, but from my limited knowledge of LPG I guess an extra O2 sensor would be required for metering and the other device has metal pipework so whatever it did must have been high-pressure. Annoyingly, all the pipes and wiring are cut pretty short so they don'y go anywhere useful.
