Found this for sale recently, and I'm very interested in it. Need some advice!
Good evening All,
Here is the Jag/Daimler in question. I've always had a massive thing for these and it breaks my heart seeing them ruined at banger tracks being destroyed, so I'm hoping to buy this lovely X300 hearse soon. However, since I've never owned a Jag, let alone a hearse, I need some advice and information from you amazing people around the forum.
I'm basically looking for the general running costs for this. Fuel economy & prices (considering how cheap petrol is these days), Tax prices, insurance I'm not bother about as I've already done a insurance quote and got around £92 per month (considerably cheaper than the £125ish I'm paying for my current car), MOT & servicing details/costs and generally any other bits of info you think is worthwhile to know.
It's advertised as a 3.9L but no other details was provided. I've heard there's a V8 model, but I'm unsure if the hearse has the same engine, due to it being a service vehicle. The other info I'd love to know is would lightly modifying the exhaust for more volume be an easy to complete task? With the car being as long as it is, normal jaguar X300 exhausts I couldn't imagine would fit the length. If there's any other details you can help me with, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks muchly,
Daim-uar
Based on the oval shape of the amber lights on the front bumper, this looks like a slightly later V8 model, and you'd be best served by posting it in the X308 section. Regardless, It looks like a very interesting and unique find. Good luck!
Hi Daim-uar,
I agree with labcoatguy that the oval side marker and seat cover design tend to suggest this vehicle is based on the X308 V8 model, so I've moved your thread to the X308 forum. If you get more detail on the vehicle and learn that it really does have a straight-six engine I'll be happy to move this back to the X300 forum.
If it is based on an early V8 platform, you'll want to confirm that the plastic upper timing chain tensioners have been replaced with the improved metal ones, and that the transmission does not exhibit any unusual gear shift issues. Given the extended body, electrical issues might also be a concern. I'm sure other members will have more suggestions.
I can't resist offering the first of what may be many jokes you'll have to suffer: "That's a Jaguar to die for!"
Cheers,
Don

I have a pic of it on another computer
There was a El Camino chopped X300 someone butchered
I am not sure I understand the reasoning. The Jag is not going to carry much weight.
