Default How to remove 2000 XJR abs module?

intermittent ABS/Trac issues with my new 2000 XJR point to abs module.

How do I remove it?

I tried the search function, but no luck.

IIRC- Loosen the bolts that mount the valve body / module assembly to the car so you can "rock" the assembly to the side. Remove the 4 screws on the corners of the module that fasten to the valve body. Slide the module off the valve body. You will need to deflect the brake lines somewhat, just do not kink them. NO NEED TO REMOVE ANY HYDRAULICS.

Here is an excellent pictoral on the removal. I believe that it shows the hydraulic lines loosened or removed but as stated above most do not do that.

You need to look at post#1 in the ABS Error & TRAC Unavailable ABS Module remove and repair thread again (you gave thanks 8-14-2012).

It has detailed instructions and photos:

Also look at post# 11 in the following thread (it gives my experience with the ABS module removal and repair):

What code(s) did you retrieve that is making you point towards the ABS Module? Also, when replacing - ensure you find an exact replacement unit (with matching part numbers) on face of ABS Module...

I took it to my local indy and they used their code reader. I do not know the specific codes.

Following the instructions on Jim's link, I was able to get the ABS module out without unconnecting the brake lines, just by bending them a little.

Both of the usual suspect towers had circular cracks in the solder which can be seen as black lines. These cracks went completely around the posts. I simply re-soldered them and will be re-installing the same unit.

I'm going to wait to test it until after my Super Charger returns from the rebuild shop a 2nd time and all connectors are in place before turning the key on again.

See attached photos.

Awesome! Hope this cures your ABS fault - more than likely will. Thanks for sharing with pictures...
