How to start engine after winter storage ?
My 2003 x308 XJR is in storage for 5 winter months here in Boston.
I always remove the battery and DO NOT start the engine until I'm ready to return it to service in April.
I've been doing this for 5 years now with no problems and found that the car has always started almost instantly...too instantly for me
My concern is that when the car starts it immediately revs high then idles down to as I understand it, re establish the throttle range for the computer.
I would really like to be able to crank the engine WITHOUT it starting so quickly so as to insure that the oil pump has had an opportunity to pump oil throughout the engine BEFORE actually starting and revving so high.
Any of you folks out there have any suggestions/ tricks for a way to do this ? Someone said that holding the gas pedal to the floor disables the injectors and the car won't start until it is released.... anyone know anything about this ?
Any replies/comments/suggestions greatly appreciated !

So if I hold the pedal on the floor and let it crank a little to get the oil circulating and THEN releasing the pedal and it should start , right ?
Gotta say there's something uncomfortable about starting any car with the pedal floored but if you say it will work, I'll go for it !
Thanks again

Holding the accelerator to the floor cuts off the fuel supply. You would do this, as well, if the engine is flooded. Oil flows, lubes the cylinders, then when you let off the gas, it will fire up.
After 'digging around a bit" on this I found that there are some sources that claim that actually depressing the pedal to the floor causes the fuel supply to be reduced by 1/2 ( not totally cut off )and the throttle plate to be held wide open... I wonder which description is correct ? No matter for me as long as the car DOES NOT start until the oil pump has had a chance to pressurize the oil lubrication system after five months....I also hope the car will start normally after the gas pedal is released.
I'm going to re install the battery and give this a try ( pushing pedal to the floor while cranking) the Tues 4/2/19 and I'll let everyone know what happened.
