Default Odd noise when accelerating from cold start

Hi,

I have had this noise since I had the car and always assumed it was due to having an exhaust job done.
However, I wanted to be safe and ensure it's nothing else as I am now planning on selling the car.
You will hear the noise in the first few seconds of the video. It's much louder in reality.

It only occurs for a few seconds when starting from cold, however, there was a one-off occasion where I heard it when the car was warmed up fairly well.

That's better, it does seem exhaust related. You'd have to get it on a rack to check it. If you don't, the next owner most likely will before purchase, and you'll have to atone for a possible issue.

thank you. My concern was that it would have been a gearbox issue.
I'll be sure to let the body shop know to get their input on the sound.

Albeit that was very brief but, to me that sounds like a transmission noise. One of the reasons it goes away when warmed up is that the trans fluid expands. An example is that power steering as well as coolant also have a hot and cold level because they too expand. If the transmission fluid is low and/or dirty, it may need changed or at least checked for a possible leak. I’d get it looked at very soon.

We had a customer’s car in today for a noise on a 99’ XJ8 and that was the exact noise as what’s in the video above. It was 1 qt low on transmission fluid and noise immediately went away.

I've checked online on how to top it up myself but I am conflicted as to what needs to be done.

I've seen this guide:
https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/...uto-box.78214/

and this
https://itstillruns.com/do-transmiss...8-7235812.html

which one is correct?
