Default Strange pipe found!

Hi everyone. I'm changing my dash as the original was cracked and worn. Thought I would have a check around before lifting the heavy lump back in. I found a concertinaed pipe under the driver's side footwell (mine is a RHD). It's just loose sticking up just behind the Plenum Brace and next to the gearbox tunnel towards the firewall, I can't see where it should be fitted to? The pipe is approximately 1/2" or so inside diameter, quite flexible (if that's important?) and as said, it's a concertinered pipe. I have absolutely no diea where this goes to as I didn't remove it, it must have been there some time!

If anyone can help I would be very grateful... many thanks
Paul

By concertinaed you mean ribbed like the one off the air intake?
I’ve switched dashes in an XJ8. I don’t remember a ribbed one. I think there is a drain pipe. Posting a pic may help.

I did come across a similar pipe - can't remember if it was X-Type, S-Type or X308.
I have RHDs, too, and my pipe was on the passenger side ending open ended in the gearbox tunnel.
My pipe was supposed to be like that. If I recall correctly it was the drainage pipe for A/C condensation water.

I agree with Peter, A/C drainage pipe. There’s one on each side of the tunnel.

Hi everyone, many thanks for your replies, its taken a few days for me to get back on with the car, so apologies for a delayed reply.

Following pcolapacker advice I took a picture...

it does look like a drain, breather type of pipe, I just cannot find anywhere in Jag manual as to where it fits. I want to get this right as pulling the dash out again is not a small job lol

Jaguar dash removal/install is a true adventure. Those who tackle that
job have my admiration.

There is a plastic pipe from the evaporator (main climate control box) on each side of the transmission tunnel that goes into that bellows. If you want better pictures, search up “Evaporator time” using my screen name. I took quite a few pictures.

Hot days, you may wonder what that pool of water is under the car...air con drains.
Passenger side UK car.

While in there you could make the power steering assistance switchable with that servomatic relay on the lhs of the footwell.
