I removed the throttle body from my parts car, and without thinking i removed the black rubber tube on the bottom. Shown in picture. I'm not sure of the technical name for it, but I'm going with "black hose cut at an angle."

Does anyone know where to get a new one? Or do i have to go digging thru the trash Thanks!!

Jaguar Merriam, Kansas (jagaurmerriamparts.com) sells parts generally at identical prices to Gaudin in Las Vegas, and they're closer to iflytb9 in St. Louis, so the postage may be even less. It typically is for me in Tennessee when I comparison shop between the two. I'm sure it's just the opposite for folks in the West.

Rock auto parts sells 1998 Jaguar xj8 - part# NCA3246AB for $5.95 plus $6.14 priority mail (2 to 3 business days). Hose dimensions are 3.6 x 3.2 x 0.8 inches (1st and 2nd are probably Width and Length, 3rd is Diameter ?? ).

I am thinking that you are looking at a vent orifice with a rubber tube.

I imagine that the angle cut tube is to prevent the ingress of water or debris (splash guard???)

I don't have an AJ26 throttle body handy to look at right at this moment but I think I remember them having this feature.

Look at parts lookup on the jaguar classic parts webpage - parts list - item 14 hose - to vin 853935 - part# NCA3246AA, (Water Pipe Hose), also item 11 Pipe (Water Pipe) - part# NCA3148AA.

Yup...I concur with that Bob....a normal standard feature.

 

I found the piece in the trash can. It does look like a vent orifice rubber tube of some kind. Looks like it probably comes with the throttle body. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm just glad I found it without having to really dig too far.
