Default Water in Fuel Filler Bowl

I had some debris in that bowl so opened flap & shot the hose in there to clear it out. The water rose all the way up & would not drain.

I had to use paper towels to soak it all up.

So there must be a clogged drain.

I found 2 similar posts for X100 & X300 but nothing for X308.

Post by Ovhk shows a diagram for the X300 & my X308 also has that rubber nipple with 3 holes in it. #2 in the diagram.

Do I remove that & then poke something down the tube?

How do I remove it? Does it pull up or screw off?

You can poke to clear without removing just use something w/ a blunt end as opposed to sharp to avoid a possible puncture.

There should be a plastic 'mesh-filter' in the fuel scupper that covers the drain tube.
The mesh filter can be removed and the plastic tube cleaned (usually with compressed air).

I found a X308 thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-well-171590/

How exactly do I remove the filter to access the drain tube?

I don't want to break it. P/N HNA3099BA is discontinued.

Wiggle and pull straight upwards. Maybe be a bit sticky if it's been in there a while, but it's just a snug fit into rubber, no catches or anything. Removing and cleaning that piece has become a part of my car wash process.

I used 100# picture hanging wire & was able to feed 24” into each top hole in succession feeling 0 resistance until 24” reached.

I didn't see anything on the wire. I filled a cup with water & slowly poured into the scupper or bowl or whatever it is called.

The water all drained!

I saw it on my driveway. It seems to exit in the center line & not at the driver side.

I will try to remove that rubber nipple anyway since I want to take a good look at it & see if I can eyeball a filter. If I can clean it & run water directly down the tube, I may do this every year.

I was easily able to wiggle the black, plastic nipple free. Exposing the hole for the drain tube. Mine is not mesh. It is black plastic with openings along the sides & 3 holes at the top. I thought there would be a mesh filter revealed between this plastic nipple & the hole.

I rinsed it off & then washed it with soap & rinsed again. I poured another cup of water down the open hole & wiped the scupper. I now see that the water does drain, underneath, closer to the driver side than the middle, as I previously stated.

So, I think that black plastic nipple IS the filter.

See photos
Thanks to all who replied/helped!

The slots in the plastic 'filter' is the 'mesh' I was referring to.

Sorry I did not differentiate between coarse mesh and fine mesh.

Bob,

Thanks for confirming I am not missing a filter.

I plan on cleaning the scupper & pulling filter/running water down tube ~1x/month.

LOL

I have been parking under my own tree the past year. My neighbor’s tree sheds tiny little leaves that I have seen in the scupper. My tree only gifts me sap & bird crap.

I hate parking outside but I must since no more room in my garage.
2 newer cars get garaged now.

I think a magnetic sheet of vinyl (like the 'fridge-magnet' advertising things) would work well to keep debris out and be easily removed when the car is driven?

Thanks but I think quick cleaning 1x/mo will suffice.

You are putting it back in upside down in that photo.
Also, look carefully at my 3rd photo. The one with plastic filter removed. Are you missing a rubber grommet?
