Made a rig up to lock the crank.

Must've put about 800lbft on it and it just told me nope.

Phil, if you have a full size floor Jack, remove the Jack handle and put it over the breaker bar for more leverage. It could snap the breaker bar so be careful. I myself as well as many other people have ran into the same issue. From the factory, that bolt has Loctite red on the threads. Red = 💪🏻

 

I added a cheater bar but that is only 1/2" drive and was beginning to make some unhappy noises.

Instead I may try the starter motor trick. Tie the engine down, get a bigger 3/4" drive bar and see if that shifts it.

Wonder why they specced it that tight.

 

That wouldn't be a '66 Ford Fairlane you keep showing glimpses of in your pictures would it?

 

if you have a big cordless impact, it should get that off no problem. I used my 3/8" dewalt, which is a monster for its size and it came off. Some say that impacts are not the best choice due to vibrations, but I never noticed any issues.

Yeah, that's coming in at Plan Position B, I think. I've got a 3/4" drive windy gun that's more at home taking truck lug nuts off. I think I'll have to dig it out.

Swapped front brake pad compounds over the weekend just for testing, and on the drive home from work, decided to try a few spirited stops now that the pads had bedded in a little bit... And the front end LIFTED up while heavy on the brakes, and slammed back down as soon as brakes were released.

Guess it's time for new Vee mounts. Both the fronts separated... Sucks cause the ones on there are only a few years old, and fairly low mileage, but I guess that's the cost of running aftermarket. So, shelled out hundreds of bucks for a pair of OEM ones, hopefully they hold up better to spirited driving/braking, otherwise some more involved/custom solution may be needed.

 

At tuesday got her out of hibernation. Went straight to the MOT inspection and it passed with flying colours. Yesterday I did basic yearly service and today new spark plugs. Runs like a jag supposed to run.

 

I bought my XJR a present yesterday & it's arrived already. A Foxwell NT680pro, which hopefully I won't need much. I ordered one of those for my old man. Despite everything having been paid customs seized the entire contents of the container it arrived in at the docks and needless to say it never arrived.

I have always wondered what happens to the articles seized in a whole container
when only part of the container violates the customs laws. I would be willing to bet
it happens a lot more than one might think.

 

Most likely eventually gets sent to auction.

I found my impact wrench.

We'll see if that frees up the crank bolt.

 

How damned annoying, I bet you don't get repaid for it after that happens either.
