I have NT530 and it does not read everything. Most of yes. But not reliably. It has latest firmware and JLR software installed. It says that xj from 2000 basically does not exist. But when I go and select from the VIN range selction, it will found my car, but only as NA not SC. I can not tell about the NF630. Hopefully it goes in to the cats and hvac too.

Changed the coils on the A bank because that's the last place I was. With the door open at idle, you can feel it's a bit rough.

No change. O'Reilly couldn't get their machine to even talk to the car.

Ordered a Foxwell NT630+ reader.

I used a Autel MaxiScan MS309 for my super v8 and it read everything

I got in the car this morning, same thing.
This afternoon:

Jag does Jag things and self-heals.

Guessing whatever triggered it hasn't been present for X drive cycles so it cleared.

The code should still be stored when your reader arrives though. Be interesting to see what it was.

I drove mine to the pub last night.

Annoyingly one of the backlights for the heater control buttons failed on the way home. I think they are smaller than the T3 used in the temp display, but does anyone know what I need to order before I spend ages looking for them in the workshop manual?

T1 fit, #8111 14v 0.9w.
Not sure the whole assembly but those bulbs are fairly easy to swap in the holders. That's how I did it.

Thanks Phil.

I'll get some ordered up then. If they are like the others it's so cheap to get them with the holders I'll do it the easy way.

Smaller holders- the same size as the rest of the dash that takes removable ones- but the same style, yes.

Well the T3s have turned up, in the smaller holders I think, not the size I ordered.
I'll see what I can do with them when the dash comes out, I think I'll be able to swap them into the old holders.
I might try one where the other duff bulb is, if the brightness difference is too annoying I'll swap it again once the right ones turn up.

OE bulbs in the centre console buttons are not regular Ts. Instead of being metric. They are imperial sized Ts. Beleieve or not. I was not amazed when I discovered this. I took out couple of bulbs and compared between them and standard measurements. Neither matched quite good. Until I found that they are not metric.

Tested the blower motors, they both run. Not an impressive volume of air but it works.
The heater decided tonight to blow cold, I parked up and switched it back on and it came on hot. I think the valve might be sticky because it's so rare down here for the heat to be a requirement.

I'm guessing exercising it regularly will free it up?

Yes. Use it sometimes to make it move. Same goes with the heater water pump. That turns on too when valve is used.

The pump operates, I tested it and it also comes on (can feel it running) so that's good at least.

There's a few things that just needed exercising to make work properly so I'll set it on and off a few times through the week. It's due to be cold tomorrow so there's a good chance to without turning the car into an oven.

Replaced the high beam headlights: may have to tape the lighting unit to hold it in place tightly, brittle plastic after 22 years . . .

MOT passed this morning, which is a good result. Saw a couple of bits I will need to get done next summer when I'm not using the car much though.

Ordered a replacement water pump.

This new one leaks from the plug.

Today has been a day for faffery & mostly fiddling with little bits.

I went around the car, pulled the callipers off & cleaned things up before refitting them as I'd felt slight vibes on the brakes a few times & it just seemed a little draggy. Two pads had rusted to the carriers from lack of use, now cleaned up & fresh smears of copper slip in place to prevent the same issue again for a while.

Then as all the lights for the dash had apparently arrived I took that apart to replace the three failed bulbs. The heater vent controls went ok, that bulb from Germany fitted into the old holder fine (despite being a tiny bit large) & the Smurf condom that fits over the bulb fitted too.

However the ones for the temp display, while ordered from the GBoL as the correct bulbs are much smaller than they should have been. That small there was no way I could use them in the old holders as the Smurf condoms would have fallen off, so I used the same ones as the vent control. These are almost the right size so everything fitted ok, they're only 0.9w not 1.2w so the display is a bit dim. But that's much better than not being able to see it at all, so counts as a win.

Have some exciting* pics with fingers for scale. The two bulbs next to each other are the old heater display bulb & the GBoL correct* spec replacement...

Oh GBoL - that Great Bunch of Lads in China who make everything so it seems these days but nothing is ever quite right is it?
