As these ladies age, it will, no doubt, become more difficult to obtain
compatible parts. This forum has proved invaluable in providing alter-
nates. Sometimes it is worthwhile to do a search and determine if
another member has encountered the same issue.
Not today but yesterday, I fitted the bluetooth wotsit from discount car stereo. I was pleasantly surprised, it just worked with no hassles at all & does exactly what it says it does. Sound quality is decent with it too, which makes a change from my experience of streaming anything wirelessly. I stuck it to the top of the Nav DVD drive in a gap in the frame & ran the power lead along side the reversing sensor wires to get to the fusebox.
Hmmm...mine just sits in the rear cigarette lighter and is easy
to get to if need be.
This one plugs into the CD Changer lead so needs to be in the boot. You can still use the CD changer as that comes to life when you stop streaming on the Bluetooth.
I suspect yours is a FM one that broadcasts the Bluetooth to a blank spot on the FM spectrum? I've never had any luck with those as the spectrum is so busy over here.
My new to me 2001 XJ8 VDP had the Waterpump replaced at 36,000 along with the timing Chain. Then at 39,580 the pump was leaking and was replaced by the San Diego Jaguar Dealer part number AJ88912. How often do the water pumps fail?
I recently acquired a '99 XJ8 VDP, and the passenger side trunk lid light housing was missing, and the driver's side was halfway falling inside the trunk lid. For a car this nice, those light assemblies are an absolute joke. I replaced them with an LED strip, using the wires from the passenger side, and removed the assembly and bulb from the driver's side and stuffed the wires inside the trunk lid. You don't even really notice the LED strip when the trunk is open (other than the much brighter light), and I'll figure out something to cover up those holes in the carpet. But for now this will do, and sometimes you just have to go with function over form!
It bugged me that the wood shift knob didn't match ANY of the other interior wood trim pieces, so I replaced it with a piano black one. Looks much better IMO, at least it matches the black plastic on the center console and shifter surround.
In my mind, the words "remanufactured" and "rebuilt" carry with them
a bit of a gamble. I strive to install nothing but new on the Duchess.
However, I am absolutely certain that many forum members have had
no issues at all with rebuilt parts.
Drove into the city last night. Did good despite needing the front wheels balancing again.
Front right suspension goes SQUIEEARP on full bound. Time to investigate that...
On my last 2001, the water pump lasted less than two months: I put it down to my doing a bad job of installation; but I replaced it with a new AC Delco which lasted . . .
The replacement on my current 2003 has lasted for at least the two years I have owned it.
Not today but yesterday I completed the radio repair. Made three new legs to the cpu. Now tuner finds stations as new. Three legs were corroded away and one of those clearly affected to the radio. Cd changer and casette worked ok before.
