These wires are near the battery

 

The black one looks like the connector for the auxilary power socket

 

I see nowhere where these could be plugged in???

 

For the isolation relay during shipping, I suspect. (It is for the S-Type.)

I think puddled & JagV8 both get coconuts, the flux capacitor is unlikely.

 

I was wondering the same thing about these two unconnected wires near the battery when I replaced it recently.
(Glad to know it's not only my car!)
Could they be for connecting to brake lights on a trailer, as the auto parts guy speculated?
Major Tom to Earth Control...doesn't anybody know?

 

Take some trim panels off various parts of the car and you'll find more unused connectors. Start a large thread about them.

The three way connector with the cap is for the optional auxiliary power socket for the boot, so you can run a coolbox, charge a power pack, or light a cigarette whilst changing a flat.

A true story from the next county north from Yorkshire.

Many years ago, an old school friend of mine who was also my Solicitor resigned to requalify as a Barrister. As there was a period of six weeks between the two, he decided to 'sign on' as unemployed.

After extensive inquiries at several local hostelries, he was confident he 'knew the form' and duly turned up at the Dole Office dressed in a collarless shirt, flat cap and accompanied by a (borrowed) whippet on a piece of string in place of a lead.

All went well with the preliminaries until he was asked about any qualifications. When he accurately claimed to hold a first class honours degree in Law from the University of St Andrews, the staff called security to have him ejected!

Apprearing in a "collarless shirt, flat cap and a whippet dog on a piece of string in place of a lead" are the same as showing up in a "wife beater" t shirt, baseball cap and pit bull on a leash made from the belt from your trousers, sorry, I meant blue jeans.

All indicate poverty or lack of education and low social status.
