Yes. They’re both the same part number.

However, an XK8/XKR A/C compressor does not fit on an XJ8/XJR and visa versa.

 

Hi theswede, can you please be more specific regarding the year and model of your Jag? Put it in your signature, it will make it easier for community to know how to answer you because changes are made every few years. Example, in XJ8 models the 4.0L AJ26 motor was used 97-98 and from 99-03 it was the AJ27. One has VVT, the other doesn't. There was also a 3.2L version.

For your Q, are we to assume your speaking of the A/C compressor?

If, by "compressor," you are referring to the supercharger, then there would be many, many challenges in fitting an XJR supercharger to an XJ8 normally-aspirated engine. Off the top of my head, the S/C engines have lower compression ratios than the N/As. Other differences would include the Engine Control Modules, fuel injectors, Mass Air Flow Sensors, transmissions, Transmission Control Modules, etc. Probably easier and less expensive to sell the XJ8 and purchase an XJR.

Don might be on to something. Totally forgot about the German word compressor is geared more towards supercharger/turbocharger.

No not an AC, BUT an compressor for the engine (not turbo), charger..

 

How do I change the signature? I have my car in my profile list, but can't see where to change signature.. :/
