Default XJR rookie washed the engine

Well, I owned it 24 hours before I broke the tools out. Engine was dirtier than I like, washed it with a hose. Should have searched here first. Got a check engine light, restricted performance. Let it get hot, no dice. Don’t have a scanner yet so took it to Autozone. Misfire cylinder 1. Searched here and I believe 1 is passenger side, front of car? Pulled intake tube (found a crack in that), pulled coil cover and coil 1 I think. No noticeable water but blew it out and cleaned it. Putting it together now. Question 1) how do I clear code? 2) what is Jags name for this part ; pvc vent fitting ? Thanks in advance, buying a scanner soon and open to any other suggestions anyone has.
Edit; looks to be integral to the valve cover?

The proper way to clear the code is with the scanner, but you can disconnect the battery terminals and touch them together for about a minute to bleed off any excess power. Let it sit for a couple minutes and reapply. Be sure to check the spark plug, to check the coil, move it to another plug and start again to see if the code follows the coil pack.

That is your ventilation cam cover tube, I believe its a fixed piece and you may have to purchase one from a recycle yard or ebay. You can chase parts here (and usually cheaper than ebay)... Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market ...or check The Marketplace, top task bar, 4th from the left. I know there was a blue X308 being parted out....just be sure its a 4.0L motor.

Be sure to check your oil for any moisture...it will be a milky residue. If so, change the oil immediately.

Thank you Highhorse. I tucked her in for the night and will give it a go in the morning. I searched this forum using the term “ best scanner” but didn’t find any recommendations yet for a good OBD II scanner. Anyone have a link for a good scanner for a 2000 XJR? Much appreciated

One of the popular ones of years past was the ELM 327 bluetooth, but it seems to have faded and I must admit...I've had trouble linking mine of late.

One mentioned more lately is the iCarsoft i930...it reads abs codes also as opposed to the ELM 327.

I first bought a new iCarsoft i930. Good that it could read the ABS but not very good for everything else. For example, did not detect my faulty cam sensor (SC AJ26 engine). Then I bought a used Actron CP9575 - very good but does not read ABS. With the two, I can cover most of codes.

Hey MS, I was reading about the iCarsoft LR 1.0 and LR 2.0 last night...have you had any experience with those? There's a British chap who did a very recent review on them using a Land Rover.

I pulled each coil, cleaned and dried them and the wells, reinstalled and she’s running great now. Epoxied a small crack on the intake tube as well. Still on the fence as to what code reader to get...
