Default 93 XJ40 4.0 sovereign V6599xx

Good afternoon Jag Lovers. During COVID19 lockdown I have been really busy on my XJ40. During the process of adding sat nav , bluetooth, reversing camera, USB charging and RF keyless entry, I have been looking for the security module and incline sensors but I believe it depends on the Vin number as to when this module was installed. I am hoping to pick up the loom points if possible and route the appropriate signals to my aftermarket security system. Has anyone got a clue on this info please. Vin SAJJHALD3AT6599XX

These modules are REF 166 Sht9 and REF 124 Sht9 in the XJ6 & XJ12 manual. I have been unable to locate any accurate XJ40 electrical manuals. Any suggestions from the forum readers ?

Stay COVID19 safe.

Regards Rodoz

Check for Jaguar service publication S78 - 1993 XJ6 Sedan Range Model Year Update.

According to the publication, the inclination sensor, shock sensor, and intrusion sensors/control module were dealer-installed options.

The inclination sensor is mounted on the ABS ECU bracket, inside the trunk on the left hand side. The shock sensor is mounted just above the inclination sensor.

The intrusion sensors are of course mounted in the headlining. The control module is mounted on the floor in front of the drivers seat.

While the late XJ40 alarm system is old by today’s standards, it still uses multiple serial links to communicate with the intrusion ECU and the central microprocessor. Interfacing your new security system with the factory Jaguar shock sensor and inclination sensor directly may be easy, but I’d imagine the intrusion detection system will be more of a challenge.

Many thanks Nick

Nick, I do not plan to serial interface to the original alarm or Control CPU, I will use the inputs from the sources , pick them up and diode isolate them into an new unit. I basically wanted to know where the hardware was all meant to be so I can see if there are any usable cables/ signals.

Currently I am trying to determine what signals were fed from the IR sensor module to the Control module so I can interface the new unit RF keyless. My IR remote never worked as the FOB transmitter had a dead IR LED driver IC and they are no longer available. Besides ne RF systems are far more secure if I choose well.

I will spend the day on my XJ40 tomorrow chasing wires and signals.

Thank you Don and all of XJ40-XJ6 enthusiasts, I have looked at all the publications listed and it seems even though my VIN SAJJHALD3AT6599XX would suggest the 93 loom and some of this equipment would be in the vehicle. But sadly not. No security, no airbag no updated coolant valve installed in climate control, but there is a vacuum control line, go figure ? The connectors for accessory items like security modules, incline sensors etc do not seem to be present. This is a RHD vehicle so no battery in the trunk. The compliance plate under the hood describes the vehicle as Sovereign JH saloon 03/93 Stamped on the body is body built 1992.. So it must have been just before the updates were done. This vehicle has IR remote keyless entry not RF. As my remote is dead I cannot trigger the IR receiver to observe the output from the IR receiver to the Control microprocessor then central locking. Sadly I have the test equipment to catch the signal and interface my new RF higher security aftermarket unit but I cannot generate the IR lock unlock signal to measure it. Once I know that the rest is easy. If anyone has replaced their IR with RF please let me know what the lock/unlock signals are from pins 1 & 2 of the IR receiver module. I am sure there are many after market RF keyless entry units installed replacing the old IR system.

Stay COVID19 safe all. REgards from Rodoz

Ammended post, I just discovered a post which describes the IR module output on pins 1 & 2 of the DBC5119 module :- Quote was as follows . Connecting should be very easy, unplug the cable from the DBC5119 module in the centre roof console, find the black wire, red/orange and green/blue. Jumping red/orange to ground will unlock your car, jumping green/blue to ground will lock it. This will also confirm whether your system actually work or not.

Note in My vehicle the colour code is different Pin 1 & 2 are R and Blue/Green 12V is pin 7 ( Brown/green ) and earth is pin 8 (Black)

Hi Rodoz,

See if the answers to your questions are contained in the Electrical Guide, which you can download at the link below. Note the wiring color code guide near the beginning of the manual.
