Hi Shawn,

To me, the best statistic would be that the car has traveled 140K miles (not too many, not too few). The problem is that the description says the exterior color is Regency Red Metallic and the interior color is Black, which doesn't match the car in the photos, so the mileage is probably not accurate either. It's also not an XJ8 as listed in the title. It would definitely be worth calling the dealer for the correct details, including the VIN so you can do some homework.

Please keep us informed!

Cheers,

Don

That VIN calls it a 94 but my 94 has dual airbags so no glovebox. In that case if its earlier would it have the 6.0?

Still for 3K, Id be interested.

I called the owner I think I'm going to drive down to LA on Friday and check it out.
I ask him tones of questions about it. so far I'm pretty happy with his answeres.
he's going to message me all the work done to it over the years.
they stopped the LWB xj40 in the US in 92 correct?
I'm excited I miss having a xj saloon.

I'm not sure about that, but the car in the photos appears to have the rectangular headlamps that were standard on the '93 and '94 XJ40s. As far as I know, most '92s had the quad round lamps. I suppose it could be a late '92.

Let us know what you think after you've seen it!

Cheers,

Don

went and checked it out.
it's in great shape.
went for a drive and I notcied some weird brakimg issues. held the pedal to the floor and the brake light came on. then abs. started a noise pedal got hard and I lost braking.
that was fun...
as stepping on the pedal I noticed the fluid would fill up and shoot out the little top hole.
having some knowledge and knowing about the abs system. Im thinking the accumulater ball is bad.
besides that the engine runs smooth.
throttle bushings are gone.
the driver blower motor makes a bad noise.
I think I'm gonna get it.
the dealership is fixing it all since they had know idea they were having a "jag guy" who knows all about these cars come check it out. there sure where surprised.
and I drove 7 hours to get there.
he's shipping it back to San jose no cost

so good deal?

Shawn,

A lot of car for a little money!

I've added one of the dealer pics to your first post. This thread will still be here long after they take the Ad down and your link no longer works.

I always was (one of the many) who did not consider the XJ40 a real Jag when it was introduced.
20 years on, having a XJ8 since a year and a neighbour with an XJ40 I see every day, and after spending lots of time going through forums and pictures, I must say, I start to appreciate them a whole lot more.

Congratulations on your purchase!

E.

I have seen it in the flesh and driven it......... it was an absolute steal. I drove it (with 130k+ miles) then my '90 XJ6 (with 17k miles) straight after and the XJ12 feels just as tight as the XJ6. And when you step on the loud pedal it really gets up and goes. If I had not found my car I would have had this XJ12 in a heartbeat. They will hopefully both be appearing in the upcoming BAJrs run in February here..... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...5/#post1150557

Judging by the dealer pic, that's one damned sexy car.

Have you got it sorted yet?
