Not 100% on you markets requirements, or the 6 cylinder setup, BUT,
My understanding is;
The Aux fan IS wired to the A/C circuit in some markets.
The Aux fan is also wired to come ON if the lower hose temp sets the switch off, and will stay ON after shutdown, until a predetermined temp is reached. If that fan is OFF at shutdown, it will stay OFF, no matter how much heat rise may take place.
Owners often report more activity with that fan, and it usually leads to a clogged radiator causing a slightly higher engine temp.

Yes I just reused that entire fan circuit (wiring only - omitted the small fan and connected the wiring to one of the fans in my dual efan setup - this is my V8 conversion set up).
The trigger wire to the red relay comes from temp sensor (at a preset temp value) located at the lower section of the Jag radiator. Power comes from a fuse in the same box as the headlight fuses Fuse #1 ...IIRC.
On my GM 350 I used a temp sender that is screwed into the thermostat housing,...wired it from there .
Wiring arrangement enables the fan to continue operating after engine shut down - just like the Jag set up.

In the 6 cylinder Series 3 XJ, the auxiliary fan can be rewired to come on everytime the a/c is on, very simple mod, however that little fan is noisy so the car starts to sound like a Maserati.

Check the fifth fuse in the 5-fuse fusebox located next to the coolant-fill tank, it usually is the reason the fan does not come on.

The auxiliary fan that was on my 83 is hanging on the shop wall, along with another of unknown etiology. Camaro (?). Each kinda puny. If I were not such a pack rat, I'd dump both!!
As wired, my car has no fan run after shut down. Although one is wired to come on irrespective of temperature when the AC is engaged. Not sure I like that idea. And, if ever, I charge the AC, I may not plug it in.
The two PCM Efans outta do the job.
