Today was shopping day as usual for Wednesday, and as traffic was fairly light, it being 'The Holidays,' I parked Nix off by herself to avoid possible accidents caused by too much holiday cheer (door dings and such).
When I came back she had collected a friend! And he was RED!!
Notice all those empty spaces all around, but where does he park his pony??
Right next to CLASS!!
Ha, ha !!! for just an instant, I thought LnrB meant a real live horse !!!
When I am out and about, I select the last space in a row. That means curb on one side. Usually, my dismount side. Good, although I am carefull and don't smack other cars, it makes it easier to get the doo all the way open.
Jaguar is still on "dead line". smog issues not resolved. other stuff and weather. But, it fired right up yesterday and purrred.
I visited son and his SO Monday, XMAs day. Nice time. Delicious turkey dinner. And visited Billy. Much leaner, but has been busy mowing at their place and is quite chipper. The glass slider perplexed him. And, at one time, when opened wanted to come in and join us....
@ Tony: Those spaces across the way are under trees, with their resident Bomber birds!
Nix does Not like birds and the 'gifts' they leave behind! So, in deference to her wishes, I try not to park under trees whenever possible. In shade when I can, but Not under trees.
@ Carl: When I pulled in, there was not another car within 4 spaces all around. I don't like to get too close to the curb because her doors might hit the concrete. Not only that, but in this area they Insist on filling every square inch of property not covered in black top with planters and the Most scratchy of shrubbery!
By the way, Carl, I don't have time to properly care for a 'real pony.'
If I feel the need for a horsey fix, I merely wander over to the neighbors' where they have 3.

And, the three are pleased to get some exercise!!!
Before I got the 'grease craze" I had critters to ride. First, a donkey.
Really mean and stubborn. My left knee has never been just right since he rolled up on it !!
Dad said enough ! Visited an old army buddy. Bought "Plug". a 20 + year old "retired" cow pony. Ugly, but the skills remained. Too slow.
So, I got "Dusty", a green broke dapple grey mustang mare. A bit fussy. but fast.... Hang on.
Rode bare back mostly. Dad felt it best. learn to work with the mount. And safe from a foot stuck in a stirrup and getting dragged !!!
Dad, a professional soldier. Rode mules and horses.

They're a pain aren't they? We seem to have an increasing number of ravens in our area, adept at very accurate airborne "bombing"
One of my cars currently resides in the driveway (not under trees) and the birds find it ideal for target practice, so end-of-day inspections are required to get rid of any "gifts". A serious coat of wax provides some barrier.

When I first came to this part of the world, I made friends with another Montana native, in her 70s at the time, now dead.
She used to say I was like "a half broke mare." I had no idea what that meant until I began playing with the neighbors' horses. They had a filly born to them in 2010, and as she grew up, I learned first hand what a 'half broke mare' was like. I wear that description with honor and pride.

Elinor: Yup. You should. One of my riding pals, the guy that got me into
the donkey thing, had a mustang filly, Dolly. Also green broke. We tode a lot, mostly bare back. Balance and coordination with the mount meant everything.
