Default Finally no more noise from the front suspension

Ever since I bought the V12, I have been annoyed by a disturbing knocking sound from the front suspension when driving through pot holes or on uneven roads...

Finally got so annoyed that I ordered new bushes from SNG:

Now this truly IS the sound of silence.....magnificent...

Sort of makes you wonder why you waited so long, doesn't it.
I know that feeling.

How right you are.....always thought it would be a sh.tload of work ("normal" cars have bearings there etc...), but it turned out to be a 10 minute job with the air filters removed.

Really interested in this repair as I too, have clunking. I can't tell from the part page what it is or where it goes. Can you provide more detail and maybe some photos. Thanks for your help.

Jeff.

It's a fairly easy procedure really:
https://cdn.sngbarratt.com/illustrations/jj001821.svg

V12:

1. remove the air filter housing covers and the filters
2. remove the upper nut on the top of the dampers (no. 2) (counter the lower nut while doing so, both 14mm spanner)
3. remove the lower nut on the top of the damper (no. 3) (counter the damper with a 7mm spanner, soak liberally in castor oil before doing this)
4. remove the washer (no.4), the old bush (no. 5) (or what's left of it) and the bush cup (no. 6)
5. clean or replace the cup, the bush and the washer and assemble in reverse order...

VERY IMPORTANT!
DO THIS WITH THE WHEELS ON THE GROUND!
Otherwise, the damper will "fall" through the wheel well.....

Hi Dutch-cat. Thanks for the information. When I saw your detailed instructions and saw the drawing, I had to laugh. You see, I have done that many times only in the middle of America we call it "replacing the rubber bushing on the top of the shock absorber". I'll order the parts and replace them and see if that helps my clunking situation. Thanks for helping me understand. I just wasn't familiar with the word "bush" in that context - we use "bushing" over here.

Quite right, but they aren't listed in the Barratt's catalogue and weren't defective on my car.
