Default Series 2 doors in series 1 car?

For my xj6, I want some replacement doors. These will be used while I restore the original doors, as they have some rust.

S1 scrappers are hard to find, but I am offered an S2 for almost no money. Will these doors fit?
Same size, same hinges?

Anybody knows?

I have no idea for sure, but looking at pictures of two from basically the same angle and distance, I'd say the fronts would probably work, assuming hinges line up. Rears may depend on which wheelbase the S2 donor was. If I recall, some came with the shorter wheelbase, same as the S1, but then they went to strictly the longer wheelbase in later S2. To me, it seems as if the extra inches were added to the rear doors. Shape and everything looks the same to me as well. I'll attach some pictures I found online. As weattg44 stated, "only one way to find out...". I'd be interested to see if they'd work or not.

AFAIK you'll be OK with the swap here as there were minimal changes bodywise but the Series 2 introduced the long wheelbase cars, so there are two lengths of rear door. Eventually all cars became long wheelbase and the short ones ceased. If there are minor differences, I am sure they can be fettled out.

Default Front door hinges

If you plan to change the hinges.. you have to really loosen/almost remove it) the front fenders to get the long bolts out... I changed my hinges for the later model ones from a S1 (72-73) that have the big spring... they worked
out well.

I never saw a SWB SII so I cannot attest to those doors fitting.. have rear door thresholds for them and they are longer.

I will take off the fenders indeed. Makes working on the hinges much easier, and I want to work on the fenders anyway. Cannot do full resto, cause don't have a garage. Now I can swap body panels/doors and restore the panels one by one.

The door latches are different, starting in the last year of the S1 (73) and continuing into S2. So IMHO S2 front doors would not interchange with S1 except possibly 73.
