Someone has been trying to sell an XJR/6 engine for months now on Ebay.
Actually installing the engine would probably be the least of your worries. You'll need all the electronics and engine management equipment from a donor XJR, and that probably includes the 4L80E transmission which I think is fully integrated into the elctrical architecture....and which probably wouldn't fit under the car.
I'veheard of a fellow that installed an XJR/6 engine into an XJS and is was supposedly a very difficult swap.
Others will chime in
Cheers

The Ser III XJ6 and the XJR/6 weight virtually the same....right at 4100 pounds enpty. Of course the horsepower difference is quite large :-)
With age I've become a little lazy and have decided that if I want more performance its easier to just go out and buy a car that has the level of performance I want. Given that XJRs are so inexpensive on the market....well....you know where I'm going with this: same place Skanoski went :-)
Another choice is to find a Ser III V12. I have one in my garage now for some repairs. The owner imported it to the USA from Canada. A marvelous car and strong acceleration....although it lacks the outright torque and "guts" of the XJR/6.
The Ser III cars are so nice. The only way to improve them is to add more power. Everything else is almost ideal....in an olde-world way. The truth is, though, that the XJR does everything better. It can never duplicate the Ser III feel, though.
Cheers
