Default XJ6 Series 3 Owner Handbook

I looked all over for a download without success. I just acquired a 1986 XJ6 VDP but it did not come with any manuals. I finally resorted to buying an owner manual that came with a few other documents. It wasn’t cheap. My question is whether to scan the manual and make it available to others facing the same dilemma. Would it be ok to put it up on the Forum as a free download? Or would I be disloyal by preventing other Forum members from selling them for outrageous prices?

I think many (most?) old car enthusiasts enjoy having the actual manual to hold in their actual hands. They'll buy the manuals even if a freebie version is available online. Thus, you wouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes by scanning and posting.

Just out of curiosity I did a 30-second browsing on Ebay for Series III owners manuals. Prices ranged from about $20 for the basic manual to $125 for the complete owner portfolio.

Cheers

I have a complete Owner's Handbook portfolio for a 1986 XJ6 if you want the real thing. Includes all booklets as they came with the car.

That is terrific. Thank you and thanks for providing all the information available a terrific collection. I didn’t see the “Owner Manual” in the collection. Was that on purpose or did I miss it? Thank you again.

I do have the paper version of the owner portfolio you mention. My question is whether to post free scanned version.

yes it is there, it's called "Series III Handbook", shown in the bottom left pocket of the portfolio.

The portfolio is a two-pocket British Racing Green folding vinyl cover where all the handbooks fit. Owner's, Maintenance, Sound, Service Record, etc. are all there.

I also have a Green Leather portfolio with gold embossed "Jaguar".

I can see no reason to avoid postig a scanned version. Not that easy to do My compliments for the willing ess to do so.

I have the complete set fr my jaguar. plus the factory manual for the 94 Cadillac tht donated t's engine and transmisssion. Each very useful

Same for my 94 jeep Bother radio nd driver amnul Plus a factory manual teh latter a bit grease stained. I like that.

Oh, not to forget. jaguar schematic S57. Very helpful.

Hi Iramphal, the 1985 is the same as the 1986 and is the same as the 1984. The only difference is the Sound booklet which shows a different radio cassette fascia. The Series III Handbook is identical, the Maintenance Handbook is identical, the Service Record booklet is identical, the green vinyl portfolio cover is identical.

Thanks Jose, If this is the case, Would you be willing to part with the full 86 manual set? I only have the maintenance handbook, and it's pretty ragged. You can PM me with the costs involved. Ian

Iramphal, yes I have it for sale in my website, check the pictures there:
https://jagupgrades.webstarts.com

NOTE: it came from a 1986 Vanden Plas but the only difference between the VDP and the Base XJ6 Handbook set is a separate Brochure about the Great Benefits of the plush Interior Appointments of the Vanden Plas. The rest of the Handbooks are identical to the ones in my 1984 Base XJ6. Condition is very nice and preserved.

I can't seem to find the pictures on the site. Is there a more direct link? Ian
