Is there a way to adjust the upper limit on the door windows??? The glass on the passenger side goes up too high and won’t re-seal against the weatherstripping if you open and close the door with the window up.
I’ve held down on the up switch a few seconds and can here the clicking like it’s resetting the limit, but it is still too high once the door is opened.
my 01 XKR will drop the windows when you open the doors and raise them when shut. Is the XJS supposed to do this also??
You'll have to pull the door card off and you should be able to find the window stop. On the facelift I think it was on the rear end of the door, the side of the glass closer to the rear of the car. It's a simple contraption that should allow for adjustment.
I finally gave up and pulled the drivers door panel / card so I could compare them.
Took me a bit but finally figured out the up and down stops. Sorry I didn’t take a picture, was rushed getting it back together so I could get it back inside for the night.
I was looking for stops on the guides. The stops are for the actuator arm. They’re located below the door latch handle. Right near the actuator. There are two slotted bolts with a locking nut. They’re located about 4-6” apart with top one directly above the other.
The slot allows you to turn the bolt that has the stop on it inside the door. The nut locks the bolt against the door sheet metal to keep it in place.
On my car on the passenger side, the lower nut was missing and the upper one was loose. I put the window where I wanted it at top and bottom locations, turned the slotted bolt to adjust the stop against the actuator arm and locked it in place with the nut.
I hope that makes sense and might be of help to someone else.
