Default Brake Accumulator/Anti-lock light/Relay Help

I just replace my brake accumulator because it had failed. Pump was coming on whenever I stepped on the brake pedal. Additionally, the amber Anti-Lock brake warning light was on full time as well as the red brake warning light on the dash. The red brake warning light would come on and go out immediately. It did this every time I stepped on the brake pedal. I could also hear what sided like a relay clicking every time I stepped on the brake pedal and the voltmeter would "twitch" every time as well.

New accumulator installed, and the red warning light is gone. The Amber anti-lock light comes on and stays on. I can hear a clicking/relay under the ski slope when I step on the brake pedal when the car is in park, but it doesn't "click" when I step on the brake when in drive.

Suggestions?

MSGGrunt,

Have you done the blink test to read the fault codes which are causing the light to illuminate?

Also, have you driven the car above 19mph to clear redundant fault codes?

I have driven above 19 MPH.

I haven't done the blink test. Will have to research how to do that.

Hi MSGGrunt

Might be worth flushing the brake system. When I replaced my accumulator, it still showed the fault lights until I did all new brake fluid and even then had to do a few journeys before the warnings went away. Been fine ever since (approx 4 years).

Good luck
Rob

As Rob says, when the accumulator was replaced, I assume you did a proper bleed of both low pressure circuit and wheel circuits using the Teves procedure?

Hi MSG

As Paul (ptjs) says: you need to Bleed the Low Pressure Side of the System before you Bleed the Brakes or you will not get anywhere when it comes to Bleeding the Calipers

How to Bleed the Low Pressure Side of the Brakes
