Default Brembo Brakes on a XJS

Hi Chaps

Can anyone tell me, is the Brembo brake package used on the XKR transferable to a 95ish XJS / DB7?? With new wheels...
Am I right in thinking the XK was based on the XJS?

TIA

I seriously doubt it.

The "Floorpan" is what was always referred to as the "based on". Same as the Aston Martin, "based on" the XJ-S floorpan.

AGREED, some mechanicals changed camps, makes perfect sense.

The brakes, maybe?, but that would be a "suck and see" situation. Nothing is impossible, so probably do-able with some serious outside of normal thinking.

Benefits, mmmmmmm, minimal in MY opinion. These cars stop very well with decent OE spec rotors and pads, and CLEAN/FRESH fluid.

If you are tracking the car, or a "demon driver" then OK, different situation totally.

I tried, the XKR brembo's definitely will not fit. I worked on upgrading my brakes on the my XJ coupe for quite awhile. The only thing I know of that will bolt on is the DB7 Vantage Velonte caliper and rotors. The calipers are Brembo and the rotors are 13 inch. GOOD LUCK finding a set and if you do they will cost a fortune. Ohhh wait Here's a set...http://r.ebay.com/tyKGb5 I think. They look like Volante but I'm not sure. Perhaps a part number search may help ID them for sure.

I ended up custom fitting a set of Wilwood calipers with Wilwood Alu hat 12.2 inch rotors in the front and XJS vented convertible brakes in the rear. It was a major improvement.

Thanks for the input guys... AM did do a sport package for the I6 DB7 called the Driving Dynamics package with 19" wheels, big discs and Brembo 4 pot calipers, which is still getable from some places, but at over 6k!
Think I was just grasping at straws thinking the XK Brembo package might bolt straight on.... Never mind.

The place where I buy my tires does a lot of suspension and brakes work. They also carry, and work on, Brembo brakes upgrades. A while back I asked them to give me a quote for a Brembo brakes upgrade on my XJS, but they said there's no such thing, as Brembo does not offer brakes for the XJS.

For me it wasn't that much of a deal because I've always believed that the OEM brakes on the XJS stop the car in excelent fashion. Of course, I also know that the fact that they work well wouldn't stop me from getting Brembo's, should they be available for my car... really a questionable choice knowing, too, that they are expensive to get and expensive to service/refresh...

Agreed. I recently had the brake fluid flushed on my wife's XK8 and the improvement in pedal feel was very noticeable.

I plan on having my friend cnc me some brackets to bolt 13 inch wilwood rotors on my car with large possibly ctsv or corvette z06 calipers.

Will post a whole build process when I get there.
