America has always been the cheapest place to buy an XJS, because of the sheer number that we sent over there. It's just a shame that the steering wheel is on the wrong side! It's also why many of the best cars for sale in Germany are imports from the US.
Here in the UK, prices are definitely strengthening now as people see the XJS as the bargain 80s & 90s performance car. The very aggressive inflation in prices of many classic cars, especially Ferrari & Porsche is now starting to pull up the prices of all corners of the market. ehh just look at the site you are on. CL and ebay aren't as bad, but go on Hemmings and you are going to see ridiculous prices.
Go look at barrett jackson and you will think an MGB is worth 40k. The thing is most of these higher end sites have higher end cars. Noone is going to use that site to sell their $2500 junker XJS
